Behold the Pierced One Devotional Prayers
WAOB® broadcasts various devotional prayers, particularly in the program Behold the Pierced One®. These include the Divine Mercy Chaplet, St. Bridget Prayers, various Litanies, Chaplet of the Seven Sorrows of Mary, the Way of the Cross, and the Way of Light.
"Popular piety is an expression of faith which avails of certain cultural elements proper to a specific environment which is capable of interpreting and questioning in a lively and effective manner the sensibilities of those who live in that same environment.
"Genuine forms of popular piety, expressed in a multitude of different ways, derives from the faith and, therefore, must be valued and promoted. Such authentic expressions of popular piety are not at odds with the centrality of the Sacred Liturgy. Rather, in promoting the faith of the people, who regard popular piety as a natural religious expression, they predispose the people for the celebration of the Sacred Mysteries.
"The correct relationship between these two expressions of faith must be based on certain firm principles, the first of which recognizes that the Liturgy is the center of the Church's life and cannot be substituted by, or placed on a par with, any other form of religious expression. Moreover, it is important to reaffirm that popular religiosity, even if not always evident, naturally culminates in the celebration of the Liturgy towards which it should ideally be oriented. WAOB® broadcasts popular devotions primarily during the program Behold the Pierced One, broadcast at 3pm and 3am. Following the guidance St. Faustina recorded from Jesus in her Diary, the devotions WAOB® broadcasts in the 3pm Hour of Divine Mercy are focused on the Passion of Christ. These devotions include the Divine Mercy Chaplet (Monday - Thursday and Saturdays), St. Bridget Prayers (Tuesdays), various Litanies (Mondays and Thursdays), the Way of the Cross (Fridays) and the Chaplet of the Seven Sorrows of Mary (Wednesdays and Saturdays). The one exception to meditations on the Passion occurs on Sundays, a day devoted to the Resurrection of Christ, on which the Way of Light is broadcast.
The devotional prayers, on We Are One Body®, are always prayed and recorded by the diverse members of the mystical Body of Christ, the Church, including clergy, religious and the lay faithful.
