Tracing the Footprints of Faith

Therefore my people shall know my name on that day, that it is I who speaks: Here I am!

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of the one bringing good news, Announcing peace, bearing good news, announcing salvation, saying to Zion, "Your God is King!"
Listen! Your sentinels raise a cry, together they shout for joy,
For they see directly, before their eyes, the LORD's return to Zion.
Break out together in song, O ruins of Jerusalem!
For the LORD has comforted his people, has redeemed Jerusalem.
The LORD has bared his holy arm in the sight of all the nations;
All the ends of the earth can see the salvation of our God.

(Isaiah 52:6-10)

     In this program, priests witness to their experience of the Holy Spirit at work in their lives--in their conversion, in their call to the priesthood, and throughout their priestly ministry.  The Holy Spirit, as we discover, is at work in both significant moments and seemingly insignificant moments. Pope Paul VI noted that, "Modern man listens more willingly to witnesses than to teachers, and if he does listen to teachers, it is because they are witnesses." (Evangelii Nuntiandi #41) From listening to witnesses, we learn to trust the church's teaching and become more sensitive to the movement of the Holy Spirit in our own lives.
