Friday, April 10, 2020 – Good Friday of the Sacred Paschal Triduum
6:15 am through 8:15 am EDT: The Liturgical celebration of Tenebrae (a special combination of Matins and Lauds for the Triduum) celebrated this morning by the Benedictine Monks of Le Barroux Abbey in France.
8:42 am EDT: WAOB®’s A Kiss of Peace® program will feature two Good Friday reflections. We'll hear a reflection that Bishop Lawrence Brandt first shared for Good Friday 2011, when he was Bishop of the Diocese of Greensburg, PA. Following that will be a reflection by Bishop Frank Caggiano of the Diocese of Bridgeport, CT.
9:00 am through 9:30 am EDT: WAOB®’s Saint Peter is Still Speaking® program will feature the homily given by His Holiness, Pope Francis at this year’s Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion Liturgy in Saint Peter's Basilica. It will be followed by Pope Francis's meditation on the Way of the Cross from 2019.
10:00 am through 11:00 am EDT: WAOB®’s The Teaching of the Apostles® program will feature a Wednesday Audience from His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI, given on February 15, 2012. A conversation between Father Brian Welding, a priest of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, and Father Boniface Hicks, OSB, a priest and monk of Saint Vincent Benedictine Archabbey follows the broadcast of the audience. The two priests reflected together on Pope Benedict's words concerning the prayers of Jesus as He is dying on the Cross.
11:00 am EDT: The Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary
11:45 am EDT: Learn about a martyr, Blessed Lindalva Justo de Oliveira, in the program The Hands of God®.
12:00 Noon through 1:00 pm EDT: A live broadcast of Archbishop José Gomez, the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, leading the Nation in the Prayer of the Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus for an end to the coronavirus pandemic.
Archbishop Gomez, as President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops announced in his message for Holy Week: "The Holy Father has granted a special plenary indulgence to those who pray for an end to this pandemic. To receive this indulgence, you need to pray the Litany of the Sacred Heart on Good Friday, be truly sorry for your sins and desire to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation as soon as it is possible, and you need to pray for the intentions of the Pope."
Following that, we will share in the riches of our local Seminary and Benedictine Community. The Institute for Ministry Formation at St Vincent Seminary has organized a Virtual Retreat for the Sacred Triduum. Included are meditations on the Seven Last Words of Christ from the Cross. While all seven are listed here, we will listen to a sampling for the remainder of this hour.

2:00 pm through 3:00 pm EDT: WAOB®’s Behold the Pierced One® program will first offer you a rebroadcast of the Way of the Cross, which was prayed during Lent this year by Bishop Edward Malesic, of the Diocese of Greensburg. Following that will be an opportunity to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet plus the first day of the Divine Mercy Novena.
3:00 pm through 4:00 pm EDT: Tune in to hear a delayed broadcast of The Liturgy for the Commemoration of the Passion of the Lord on Good Friday of the Paschal Triduum, presided over by the Most Reverend Archbishop Allen Vigneron, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Detroit, from the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament, Detroit, Michigan.
4:00 pm through 5:00 pm EDT: WAOB®’s The Teaching of the Apostles® program will feature the 2020 Palm Sunday homily given His Holiness, Pope Francis. A conversation between two priests about the homily and today's Commemoration will follow. Father Matthew Gossett, a priest of the Diocese of Steubenville and Father Boniface Hicks, OSB, a priest and monk of Saint Vincent Benedictine Archabbey, recorded this earlier this week.
5:00 pm through 5:29 pm EDT: Tune in to hear the chanted Passion Narrative from the Papal Commemoration of the Lord’s Passion. This Liturgy, with His Holiness Pope Francis presiding, was celebrated from Saint Peter’s Basilica. You will hear four (4) Deacons chanting the parts of the Gospel Passion Narratives.
6:02 pm through 6:20 pm EDT: WAOB®’s Saint Peter is Still Speaking® program features a homily by His Holiness, Pope Francis. The homily comes from the Way of the Cross that took place earlier today at the Colosseum in Rome. Also included will be the praying of the 14th station from the Way of the Cross.
7:00 pm EDT: Join in praying the Way of the Cross. This was lead by Archbishop William Lori, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, earlier in the 2020 Lenten season.
8:00 pm through 9:00 pm EDT: Join in meditations on Sacred Scripture, led live by Father Boniface Hicks, OSB, Benedictine priest of Saint Vincent Archabbey (Latrobe) in the program Drawing Life-Giving Water from Jacob's Well®.
